Partner visas play a vital role in the UAE’s business-friendly system and offer a number of benefits:
Obtaining a partner visa in Dubai involves several stages, starting with company setup and ending with final residency approval.
Before applying for a visa, you must be officially listed as a business partner. This means either setting up a new company or completing a share transfer if you are joining an existing business as a shareholder. Once the updated trade license shows your name as a partner, you can begin the visa process.
If you are outside the UAE, you must apply for an entry permit to enter the country and begin the visa process. If you are already inside the UAE, you can request a change of status to convert your current visit or cancelled visa into a partner visa.
All applicants over the age of 18 must complete a medical fitness test, which includes a blood test and a chest X-ray at an approved medical center. First-time visitors to the UAE must also provide biometric information such as fingerprints and a retina scan.
The Emirates ID is one of the most important identification documents in the UAE. Once biometrics are complete, your details are processed into a federal system. From 2026, most Emirates IDs will be issued digitally first, with physical cards delivered later.
While physical visa stickers from passports have now been phased out for many visa categories, your electronic residency record confirms your legal residency status and allows you to travel freely and sponsor your family members.
Although visa stickers are no longer commonly used, your digital residency approval officially confirms that you are a resident of the UAE. After this step, you can access essential services, open a bank account, apply for a driving license, and enjoy all the benefits that come with living in the UAE.
